WITH the support of his family, Vinnie is convinced he can continue his footballing development after securing a place at Sunderland’s academy at the Academy of Light.

He has played football since the age of six and has represented a number of local teams such as Belle Vue, Golden Flatts, Seaton Carew Juniors and Hartlepool before going up to Sunderland.

It was during his time at Golden Flatts when he really started to shine. Not only did Vinnie help the team win the league and cup double, but he also earned many player of the year accolades.

Such form led to the interest from Sunderland and the move to Wearside led to him playing left-back even though he still regards his favourite position as a left-winger.

One of the highlights of Vinnie's youth career so far was when he came on in the last three minutes for Golden Flatts and scored from the halfway line in the league cup final. Flatts went on to win the game.

He has also represented Hartlepool Schools FA and helped them to the final of the Southport Super Cup. Vinnie started for Sunderland against Liverpool and in the first few minutes of the game he scored.

He believes he has an incredible commitment to training and a willingness to learn, which he feels are the key elements that have helped him to such a high standard.

After he was released by Sunderland he was handed a two-year contract at Hartlepool.
