He followed in his grandfather's footsteps by grabbing hold of an oval ball and playing for Hartlepool Rovers.

Aidan has gone from strength to strength and has developed from a prop forward to an openside flanker.

Soon after joining West Hartlepool has was recognised as a very versatile player.

His rugby talent has also improved on the Elite Development Squad programme. The former Holy Trinity pupil was put forward for town and county trials in 2013 and was invited back for training. He has captained the Dyke House team since joining in 2012.

He has never missed training for West, where he is coached by ex-Premiership star Jamie Connolly. His time at West started perfectly with two tries and three assists in his first five games for the club and helped them to reach the County Cup final.
