Birthplace: Hartlepool

Previous school: Clavering Primary

Clubs: St Francis, Middlesbrough FC academy

Favourite sportsperson: Wayne Rooney

Favourite TV show: Match of the Day

IN his first season with St Francis he earned player of the year and top goal scorer recognition aged just eight and his development has continued ever since. He chose to concentrate on playing for his club later that year when he was offered a contract to play for Hartlepool United.

At the age of nine he then caught the eye of Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough when he was named player of the tournament for St Francis. He then agreed a pre-contract with Boro, but before he started he helped St Francis to league and cup success and Philip collected a string of individual honours.

As part of the Middlesbrough set-up he has already faced academy teams from Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City in a European finals event and he is hungry for more.

Philip, who is still with Middlesbrough academy, is also a very good runner and has represented his county. His favourite events are cross country and the 1500m.
