ENTERING the ring – like members of his family - was never really in his thinking until the last couple of years.

He started to box for Hartlepool Catholic Club and he has developed his ringcraft to show he could follow in the footsteps of his father and uncle, who were both good amateur boxers.

Jake has grown in confidence and has shown improvement every time he has fought after coaching from Paul Allen, Michael Hart, Amanda Coulson and Richie Naylor.

He was a member of the Dyke House rowing squad and was keen to show that he had the mentality to fight in a ring after soon adapting to the sport.

He is enthusiastic and has a positive mindset to the hours of hard work required to help him reach his potential, which saw him claim a silver medal in a Development Championships in 2015.

Jake is hoping to reach the Olympic stage one day, having watched gold medallist and sporting hero Nicola Adams achieve her goals at the 2012 Games in London with dedication.
