THE most successful Olympian of all-time, Michael Phelps, is providing the inspiration to Adam in his hopes of becoming a long-term star in the pool.

Adam has made massive strides since learning to swim at the age of seven and has competed in many competitions since joining Hartlepool Swimming Club in 2008.

He is a dedicated swimmer and always looks to improve so trains five times a week, including Friday and Tuesday mornings before College.

Adam has brilliant enthusiasm for his sessions in the pool and is coached by Ian Bullock, who has helped nurture a number of promising swimmers around the North-East.

Phelps, now retired, claimed four gold medals and two silvers at the London Olympics in 2012 and such a record has got the young Dyke House student purring.

Having started competing at the age of nine, Adam is keen to progress towards his own Olympic appearance and he had already made it in to the second highest group of swimmers at Hartlepool SC by the age of 13. He was also since been named the swimmer of the year.

He qualified for several events in the North East Regional Championships, recording numerous personal bests, in 2014 and 2015.
