EVER since Jack decided to concentrate on golf rather than football in 2008 he has been on a constant road to improvement and honours.

Originally a keen footballer, he picked up a club for the first time when his father, John, introduced him to the sport he is now passionate about.

Durham County Golf Union, who have had him coached by Wynyard’s Andrew Nicholson, put Jack’s name forward to attend the Under-16 England North Region Squad, for experience only.

However, the England coaches were astounded with Jack’s ability, attitude and drive, so Jack became a member of the squad and has been for the past four years.

He won the Under-13s Scottish Junior Golf Tour and in August 2013 he qualified for the English Boys Under-14s Championship (The Reid Trophy).  He successfully made the cut and finished 34th out of 144.

After a string of other honours, he helped Durham win the Northern Counties Championship in 2014 by shooting the second best score out of six.

He finished second in the English Under-15s Championship and was one of just two from the region to play in the McGregor Trophy.
