DURING her early sporting life, Taylor favoured netball as she followed in her mother’s footsteps at the highly acclaimed Oaksway club who compete on a national level.
However, it was obvious at Clavering Primary School that Taylor was a good all-round athlete and she was involved in a wide range of competitions the school participated in.
It was after the switch to Dyke House during Year 7 when athletics became more than just a hobby.
Taylor had an obvious talent for middle and long distances and with the guidance of her family she joined the elite Gateshead Harriers club at the International Stadium.
The Harriers entered her into 800m and cross-country races, but current trainer, the American Ed Griss, persuaded Taylor to try the five-event competition, the pentathlon - and eventually followed up by the heptathlon.
The move has driven Taylor to train three times a week in the multi-event discipline and the short term aim is to compete in national events regularly in the hope her times and distances will continue to tumble.
She finished 18th in a national competition at Bedford in 2014 and recorded personal bests in points and is gearing up for the Scottish Championships in 2015.
