ALEX is a true all-rounder but her main sports are gymnastics and athletics.
She joined Hartlepool Gymnastics Club at the age of four and has competed at local and regional competitions gaining various individual and team medals in women’s artistic competitions.
Alex has also competed at numerous tumbling events. In 2016 she moved from artistic to a newly formed Team Gym and her Level 4 Team have competed throughout the North of England. They were the winners of the North of England Junior Level 4 competition earlier this year.
Alex’s other sport is athletics and after being introduced to Gateshead Athletics club following a visit with Dyke House College in 2013 she has come on leaps and bounds.
Alex started out with middle distance running but this year has turned her attention to sprinting where she is hoping to considerably improve her times next year when the track season kicks in.
Alex has represented Dyke House at numerous sporting events since joining, including gymnastics, rugby, football, athletics, cross country, handball, basketball and netball. Her main achievements are in the Hartlepool cross country competitions where she gained second place in Year 7 and first place in Year 8/9.
She has also competed for Hartlepool Schools in Years 7-9 at the county athletics, competing in long jump, shot putt, 100m, 200m and in Year 7 was the gold medallist in the 800m.
After helping the gymnastics team to win the Town Gymnastics competition for the last two years with various individual placings, she was part of the school team that claimed a gold medal at the North of England school competition. She went on to represent the North of England at the National Schools’ Championships where they placed a credible fourth.
