ANDREW has lived in Yorkshire, the United States and now Hartlepool so his travelling has contributed to him having an interest in a variety of sports.

After initially preferring football and swimming before going to school, a move across the Atlantic to Portland, Oregon, led to him developing a real affection for basketball.

After finishing as his local Portland team’s leading-scorer in the junior soccer league, he then started to shoot for hoops rather than at goals.

He also took up tennis during his time in the States as well as skiing and snowboarding, which he would practice at Mount Hood most weekends.

He returned to England aged nine and since joining Dyke House he has represented the school in football, tennis, cricket, basketball, athletics and table tennis.

Andrew helped Eldon Grove Tennis Club to the Cleveland County Under-14s League title in 2013.

It is in his Elite sports where he is now excelling. In hockey he gained recognition from the Durham Junior Regional Performance Centre and competed against others from Manchester and Leeds in 2013.

In basketball he led the schools Under-14s through an unbeaten season in the same year, which led to him playing regularly for Hartlepool Heat Under-16s. He enjoys playing guard but sometimes plays as a forward and has represented Heat's Division Two side.

In 2015 he started to train with the Durham Wildcats Under-16s and earned a place in the team. That has led to improvements in his game.

There was also a fourth place finish in the Hartlepool Schools' Cross Country championships and he finished sixth in the next round and qualified for the England National School Cross Country Championships with the county.
