REECE ROBINSON and Chris Mayes will be heading for the North East Regionals after recording impressive times at the Northumberland & Durham County Championships.

A third Dyke House and AquaForce swimmer also impressed. Callum Bomersbach made three finals and claimed personal bests in four of his events at Sunderland’s Aquatic Centre.

Robinson’s progress has been rapid over the last 18 months and was highlighted by strong finishes in the three races he competed in at the N&Ds.

NER qualifying times were secured in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke after reaching the finals in them all before posting huge personal best times.

Mayes, now competing in the senior category for 15 years and above, also has three NER times for breaststroke events.

He will be heading to compete in the Youth and Senior Category at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds on May 6-7 along with Robinson.

At the N&Ds Mayes touched in a time of 33.03 in his 50m breaststroke and would have qualified sixth in the finals if it wasn't for the fact he moved on the start and was disqualified.

He was very disappointed because he would have been ranked 45th in England - ever closer to qualifying for the Nationals.

Mayes’ second race was the 200m breaststroke. He touched with a time of 2.45.55 and qualified for the finals in tenth. In the finals he finished eighth with a PB time of 2.41.56.

Bomersbach continued his development too. He had personal bests and reached the finals in the 50m freestyle, 200m freestyle and the 50m backstroke. He also recorded a personal best in the 100m freestyle.
