TWO Dyke House College rugby players have returned from a trip of lifetime – and got to run out at a renowned stadium.

Tom Campbell and Luke McLurg are both in Year 9 at Dyke House and were part of the Hartlepool Rugby Club team that flew out to Dubai recently.

The duo played three games while they were there while they also got to take in some of the sights regularly seen on television.

Tom, the team captain, said: “I really enjoyed the experience and it will be one that stays with me forever. The three teams we played were of a really high standard and we put up a really good fight. The Sevens pitch we played on was amazing and the best I have ever played on.”

Captain: Tom Campbell and his brother Adam, the Hobits coach and former Dyke House student.

The Hartlepool RFC Hobits team lost their first game to Dubai English Speaking School. It was a very physical game against an excellent side.

They then faced the Dubai Hurricanes and the Dubai Exiles and were at the world renowned Dubai Sevens’ Stadium.

The Hobits put up a really good fight against very strong opponents and in temperatures of more than 30 degrees. It was a challenge they all stood up to.

Luke said: “I had the best time of my life on the Dubai tour. Everything was amazing: the company, the weather and the trips including to the Burj Khalifa.

“My favourite and most memorable part was the rugby. We played against three superb teams in hot conditions, it was challenging.  The trip will be an experience I will never forget.”
